My oldest loves horses. Horses make her beyond happy and she talks about them, draws them, watches shows about them, plays with toy horses, wants to learn all about horses, pretends to be a horse, looks at pictures of them, and says she wants to work with horses when she grows up. This has gone on for about two years now (of her five years of life that’s a lot). So any craft momma comes up with involving horses is a winner for my daughter 🙂 Continue reading “Pool Noodle Horses”

My Favorite Potty Training Secret
I am potty training my third child right now. There is one tip that has helped me through all three children when taking them to the bathroom in public restrooms. Glow Chalk
The kids and I made glow sidewalk chalk and they LOVE it! It has been such a hit I just had to share our process. If you have time to do this with the little ones in your life this summer, do it! So much fun with very little cost and effort.
Spring Brownies
April showers… all I can say is, YAY! We are having wonderful rain today and I’m so thankful for it. My garden and yard are grateful also 🙂 Oh how I love the arrival of spring, and the showers we are getting are just a glorious reminder. DIY Toddler Hair Cutting Tips
When I was in college I learned to cut hair. It was more of a money saving skill so I could give my brother free hair cuts. Then I gave them to my friends and boyfriend (now husband). I learned to do it on my own, I eventually learned layers, highlighting and dying as well. I’ve been cutting my husband’s hair for 11 years now. So when I had a son and he needed his first hair cut I got out the clippers thinking, “this will be simple.” Boy oh boy was I ever wrong! If you haven’t ever done it giving a toddler a hair cut can be tough. He squirms, yells when I get near his ears and cries over the itchy hair… Continue reading “DIY Toddler Hair Cutting Tips”
Cloud Dough
Today was a rainy day, and on top of that I’ve been feeling sick lately. This equals stir crazy kids in our house! I was trying to come up with something for them to do so I could just rest while watching them yet give them a fun project to enjoy. So I threw together two things as an experiment in sensory play and found… Cloud Dough! The softest sensory dough I’ve ever made with quirky properties that made it really fun to play with 🙂 Continue reading “Cloud Dough”
Volcano Week!
This whole last week has been volcano week in our house! That is what our science has been about and my kids are loving it 🙂 We went to the library for books and DVDs about volcanoes, built and set off volcano models, played with food volcanoes, and tons of facts about volcanoes have been learned. I must say, volcano week has been a huge hit at the Spaulding house! I even did 16 more models with my art class today.
Glow-in-the-Dark Fun Day
Today the kids and I used some small black lights we found in the Target dollar bins a few months ago to do some glow activities. We had so much fun I just had to share with my mommy friends!
