Each day I hear many things over and over since I have three kids 5 and under. Besides, “I love you,” my favorite thing I hear each day (multiple times a day) from my middle child Bella is, “I’m going to be a great doctor someday momma.” My sweet girl loves the Disney show Doc McStuffins. Because of this show she talks about being a doctor all the time. I get my temperature “taken” (with her hand and fake thermometer) a few times a day, and I’ve been diagnosed with many crazy sounding illnesses. Her bedside manner is so sweet since during each exam she lets you cuddle her teddy bear and some prescriptions include kisses and chocolate 🙂

Matching Acorns
Last week we discussed the different types of seeds in science with my girls. I always try to find ways to include my two year old son in our lessons as well. I used nail polish in different colors to paint acorns and then the inside of their caps to match. Continue reading “Matching Acorns”
Wall Nativity
I have seen the cute felt Christmas trees all over Pinterest. They hang on a wall and have felt ornaments for kids to decorate and play with. Well in our home, we focus on the nativity and the true reason behind why we celebrate Christmas, the birth of Jesus. So I decided to do my own version of a felt wall toy for my children. I thought I would share it now since many people are already looking forward to/preparing for Christmas.
Sewing Practice
I have been sewing a big project lately for Christmas and my two girls keep asking when they can learn to sew. Not willing to give them tiny sharp needles, I came up with a fun and safe alternative. Plastic needles, yarn and my colander!
Water Painting
Noah has been enjoying water painting today and I had forgotten just how much fun this is for a two year old! The girls love it still too, and it is so simple to do. All you need is a chalkboard, chalk, water in a cup and a paint brush. Continue reading “Water Painting”
DIY Super Hero Boots
This year our family decided to be a family of super heroes for Halloween. Our church has a great carnival each year and the kids get so excited to dress up for it. I have made their costumes each year (except one year when we made a cross country move the week before… that year grandma bought the girls monkey costumes) and I enjoy doing it. Pie Crust Chevron Cinnamon Sugar Sticks
When I was growing up my mom would always take any left over pie crust dough and bake it up with cinnamon and sugar for us kids. She cut them into kite shapes and called them cinnamon kites. Now each time I make a pie I always have left over pie crust dough so I use it for my own version of these yummy treats for the kids. You can find my pie crust recipe and tips here. I roll it out and use a wavy cutter to make chevron patterned sticks.
Primary Colors Straw Art
This week with my art class I discussed the color wheel. Primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors, achromatic, monochromatic, poly chromatic, analogous, warm colors, cool colors, complimentary colors and much more! It was so much fun to talk about basic color fundamentals with the kids. Don’t laugh at my color wheel, I know it’s not too great I did it the night before.
