I am always trying to find new ways to make learning fun and exciting for my kiddos. One night after dinner there was a lot of whining about needing to take a bath. So I announced, “I’m going to let you take a bath in alphabet soup!” My children’s attitudes completely changed and they were very exited and begging for bath time.

Glitter Shoes Upcycle
Each day I hear many things over and over since I have three kids 5 and under. Besides, “I love you,” my favorite thing I hear each day (multiple times a day) from my middle child Bella is, “I’m going to be a great doctor someday momma.” My sweet girl loves the Disney show Doc McStuffins. Because of this show she talks about being a doctor all the time. I get my temperature “taken” (with her hand and fake thermometer) a few times a day, and I’ve been diagnosed with many crazy sounding illnesses. Her bedside manner is so sweet since during each exam she lets you cuddle her teddy bear and some prescriptions include kisses and chocolate 🙂
Matching Acorns
Last week we discussed the different types of seeds in science with my girls. I always try to find ways to include my two year old son in our lessons as well. I used nail polish in different colors to paint acorns and then the inside of their caps to match. Continue reading “Matching Acorns”
Sewing Practice
I have been sewing a big project lately for Christmas and my two girls keep asking when they can learn to sew. Not willing to give them tiny sharp needles, I came up with a fun and safe alternative. Plastic needles, yarn and my colander!
Water Painting
Noah has been enjoying water painting today and I had forgotten just how much fun this is for a two year old! The girls love it still too, and it is so simple to do. All you need is a chalkboard, chalk, water in a cup and a paint brush. Continue reading “Water Painting”
DIY Super Hero Boots
This year our family decided to be a family of super heroes for Halloween. Our church has a great carnival each year and the kids get so excited to dress up for it. I have made their costumes each year (except one year when we made a cross country move the week before… that year grandma bought the girls monkey costumes) and I enjoy doing it. Primary Colors Straw Art
This week with my art class I discussed the color wheel. Primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors, achromatic, monochromatic, poly chromatic, analogous, warm colors, cool colors, complimentary colors and much more! It was so much fun to talk about basic color fundamentals with the kids. Don’t laugh at my color wheel, I know it’s not too great I did it the night before.
Rainy Day Fun
Rainy day! Yes, I’m super happy since we had a very dry summer. Also, I have loved rainy days since I was a young girl. This morning I used the opportunity to make some rain art with my girls. Continue reading “Rainy Day Fun”
