Alphabet Soup Bath

I am always trying to find new ways to make learning fun and exciting for my kiddos. One night after dinner there was a lot of whining about needing to take a bath. So I announced, “I’m going to let you take a bath in alphabet soup!” My children’s attitudes completely changed and they were very exited and begging for bath time.

I let them help daddy clear the table while I ran down to my foam sheets stockpile and started cutting letters. Please excuse the cutting job, every letter is different and far from perfect, but I was in a big hurry to make them. I cut three of each letter and then threw them in the tub before the kids came up. They loved that they stuck to the tile walls and tub walls so they could spell their names and other words we have been working on during our phonics lessons.

I loved the giggles as they whispered about how cool it was that they were taking an alphabet soup bath, and hearing them sound words out to spell them correctly melts my heart. Alphabet soup baths have become a weekly occurrence in our home now. I have a mesh bag from the dollar tree that i keep the foam letters in to dry between baths. Thanks for stopping by!
Johanna 🙂

  1. I love your profile above. when people ask me where I work, I tell them that I am a stay at home mom. I feel like they are rolling their eyes. I don’t think that they understand the sacrifices that we make. I think some women think that we are lazy and don’t want to work. I tried to balance it all at one time, but something or someone is affected negatively. they cant do it all. they miss time with their children while someone else is enjoying them. I think some mom’s like to work to get away from their kids honestly. some people use the schools as their babysitters. if you have to work, I wont judge them. ive been there. But if you work for all the vacations you can take and all the material things that you want, someone loses. we don’t get to go on vacations, and fix our house up, and fancy landscapings. some people wouldn’t be willing to give that up. So,( im saying to myself), don’t say that I am lucky to stay home,(which I am lucky to be able to do this, at this point of my life) if you aren’t willing to sacrifice some things in your life. I do tell them some times, what we do give up, to be able to do this. anyways, sorry to write a book, but I wanted to tell you that a lot of us understand you and what you do!!
