Today was a rainy day, and on top of that I’ve been feeling sick lately. This equals stir crazy kids in our house! I was trying to come up with something for them to do so I could just rest while watching them yet give them a fun project to enjoy. So I threw together two things as an experiment in sensory play and found… Cloud Dough! The softest sensory dough I’ve ever made with quirky properties that made it really fun to play with 🙂 Continue reading “Cloud Dough”

Volcano Week!
This whole last week has been volcano week in our house! That is what our science has been about and my kids are loving it 🙂 We went to the library for books and DVDs about volcanoes, built and set off volcano models, played with food volcanoes, and tons of facts about volcanoes have been learned. I must say, volcano week has been a huge hit at the Spaulding house! I even did 16 more models with my art class today.

I am so excited about the girls’ valentines this year! Each year we do something fun with pictures of the kids. This year they wanted to give their friends silly straws (which they call crazy straws). So we came up with these cute valentines. Continue reading “Crazy Valentines”
Homemade Vick’s Vapor Rub
My post on my DIY shower vapor discs was so popular yesterday I decided to share my homemade version of Vick’s Vapor Rub. I like Vick’s for its many great uses, but some of the chemicals used in it I try to avoid and the cost is higher than I like to pay. So my version is all natural and much cheaper 🙂
DIY Shower Vapor Discs

Well they are very expensive and so of course I went on the hunt for a cheaper and all natural DIY version. There are lots out there but the one that has worked for me is this:
Homemade Conversation Hearts
Valentine’s Day is a month away! I don’t know about you but my favorite Valentine’s Day candy is conversation hearts. I love those sweet, colorful tiny hearts with cute sayings on them. Although the last few years I think they taste different, and not in a good way. I’m not sure if they changed the recipe favors or if my adult taste buds are different. Either way I still eat them 🙂 This year as a fun activity for me and my kids I wanted to attempt to make our own.
DIY Face Powder
Today I’m sharing with you one of my favorite DIY projects, because I get to use it almost daily. For a long time I loved mineral powder face makeup because of the sheer and matte look it gave my skin. I also have combination skin with some drier parts and a few oilier patches. Mineral powder helped me with the oily parts while not drying out the dry parts of my face. Only one problem with mineral powder, it was kind of costly. So after research I came up with my own version for pennies!
