DIY Brown Sugar

I went to make my homemade peanut butter fudge this afternoon and realized pretty quickly I was out of brown sugar. So I just made a batch in about two minutes and wanted to share with my readers in case you ever need to know how.

Ingredients (for 1 cup of light brown sugar)
1 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 Tablespoons molasses

That is it! Just pour the molasses over the sugar and stir until well incorporated. I use the back of my spoon to press the molasses in as I stir.

When you are done it will look like this:

Seriously if you’ve never had fresh brown sugar like this try a smidge (my autocorrect says that isn’t a word ha!). It is so good šŸ™‚ If your recipe calls for dark brown sugar use 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1/4 cup of molasses. Thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Stop by tomorrow for the best and easiest peanut butter fudge recipe ever šŸ™‚

  1. This is great! I knew about the molasses and white sugar but didn’t know how much to use of each so I never have tried it. I love your blog! Thanks Johanna!
