As a fun weeknight meal for my kiddos this week I made intestines-shaped pizza and bone-shaped breadsticks! The kids thought it was so silly and fun they loved it. These would be great served at a Halloween party or just any day for a spooky meal.
Intestines pizza:
Pizza sauce
Favorite pizza toppings (I’m using olives and pepperoni for this post)
Shredded Cheese (I used a blend of Mozzarella and Cheddar)
Egg white
First roll out your pizza dough into a large rectangle. Then cut it into about three strips. They don’t need to be perfect as you can see!
Next put tomato sauce down the middle of each strip of dough. Add your favorite toppings down the middle also.
Add cheese.
Now fold over one side and pinch it with the other side to create a seam.
Place seam side down on a greased baking pan. I always use olive oil for pizzas, and I like the way they bake on my stoneware. Shape into an intestines shape as you lay it down.
Next to give it that bloody intestines look I made and egg white wash with 1 egg white and some of the pizza sauce I had leftover.
Use a brush to brush the egg wash mixture onto the whole intestine-shaped pizza.
Bake in the oven for 25-30 min at 350 degrees.
There you have it! Yummy yet gross looking intestines-shaped pizza.
Now for the Bones-shaped Breadsticks.
Ingredients:
Pizza Dough (if you click on the link to my pizza dough recipe one batch made both the intestines-shaped pizza and 16 breadsticks)
Roll out your pizza dough into a long skinny rectangle.
Next use a pizza cutter to slice it into strips about 1 1/2″ wide.
Now cut about a notch int the middle at each end of all of the strips. Curl the ends into small balls to look like bones.
Bake on a greased pan for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
Now this meal as I mentioned above was a big hit at our house. My kids saw dinner and many giggles followed.
Those are our plates with the sliced up intestines pizza and bone breadsticks. Oh and I melted a little butter and garlic to dip the breadsticks in. Have a fun week and be silly with your family! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
