A Rainbow of Beans

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and we are enjoying some fun projects to celebrate our Irish heritage! My maternal grandfather was Irish and I love sharing traditions with my little family 🙂 St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal around here. This week we are doing rainbow activities! As a fun sensory project we colored some beans in rainbow colors for our sensory bin. First we got some white beans from the dollar store. beans pre coloring Then we put a cup of beans in a plastic zipper bag with 10-15 drops of neon food coloring. beans in bag with color Then I let the kids take turns shaking! Noah shaking beans They all loved this part but I’m pretty sure my boy loved it most! Then we dumped the beans out on a few paper towels. colored beans Then spread them out to dry overnight. finished beans Then repeat with the other colors. The waiting to play with them was the hardest part for my kids! They look so pretty 🙂 20140224-120825.jpg This is the sensory bin before the play! 20140224-122910.jpg 20140224-120856.jpg This is the sensory bin after the play! 20140224-120923.jpg Lots of giggles and fun, keep an eye out for more St. Patrick’s Day fun here on the blog.
