A Rainbow of Beans

St. Patrick’s Day is just around the corner and we are enjoying some fun projects to celebrate our Irish heritage! My maternal grandfather was Irish and I love sharing traditions with my little family 🙂 St. Patrick’s Day is a big deal around here. This week we are doing rainbow activities! As a fun sensory project we colored some beans in rainbow colors for our sensory bin. First we got some white beans from the dollar store. Then we put a cup of beans in a plastic zipper bag with 10-15 drops of neon food coloring. Then I let the kids take turns shaking! They all loved this part but I’m pretty sure my boy loved it most! Then we dumped the beans out on a few paper towels. Then spread them out to dry overnight. Then repeat with the other colors. The waiting to play with them was the hardest part for my kids!
