Quick update on our new addition! Yes, it is a tiny kitten not a baby 🙂 Although, I appreciate all of the congratulations and pregnancy advice! The kids finally agreed to a name… Drumroll… Gracie! We all love her, well most of her. Those tiny needle like, razor sharp claws have left their marks on us all 😦 So in an attempt to give her a place to safely scratch and ahem, dull those claws a bit we decided she needs a cat tower.
I had no idea until we started shopping for one that the cheapest are still crazy expensive! So I took a long look at some and decided we have everything I need to build one in our garage. I was partially wrong because I needed rope (that only cost $6). We have tons of leftover carpet from our living room and old wood I could use. So for $6 my husband and I built Gracie a pretty decent tower.
First we built the wooden tower and then took it apart to cover in carpet and rope. While my husband was cutting the carpet Gracie got pretty curious.
We covered the base and two tiers with carpet and the vertical supports in sisal rope.
She loved the finished product!
Another plus of having carpet to match our living room is that it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb 🙂 she plays on it a lot and I think it is already helping the scratching issue! Thanks for stopping by.
