Frozen Slime!

I have three children, 6, 6 and 4. Let me tell you how many times we have watched the Disney movie Frozen… nah, it’s too many to count. Like many parents of small children I know this movie better than I want to admit and can sing every song πŸ™‚ So when I couldn’t take the kids outside yesterday due to rain we made Frozen Slime! Pretty much like normal slime but in dark blue, light blue and white. They loved it!

Tractors and Flowers

Last weekend I had the privilege to make cakes for a wedding. I always feel honored to be asked to do cakes, but this one was extra special. The groom was in our youth group for a few years, graduated high school, went to college and then called my husband up last year asking him to perform his wedding. It meant a lot to my husband to officiate the wedding and a lot to me to make their wedding cake and groom’s cake. The family treats us like family and it was a beautiful union of a young man we’ve watched grow up and his lovely bride. I will share the cakes another day but today I am sharing another secret project I was working on. Three of the grandparents had birthdays near the wedding date, so to honor those grandparents at the rehearsal dinner the mother of the groom asked me to make some specialty cookies. Scrappy Necklaces

I was going through my fabric scraps yesterday and found some long strips of fabric that were pretty but not really usable for sewing. I decided to braid them and make necklaces! I love how they turned out πŸ™‚ totally original, easy and a fun scrappy look. Continue reading “Scrappy Necklaces”

Ninja Turtles Cake

I got the chance to make a ninja turtles birthday cake for a boy turning 6 this week! I was pretty excited/nervous because I wanted to make sure the details were all there for this little guy. I mean 6 year olds know their favorite characters really well am I right?! As I was doing this cake I found out my husband and several friends consider themselves ninja turtle fans (ahem… experts) from when we were that age πŸ™‚ so I had lots of help getting this just right! Wild Things Birthday Party!

Today is my son’s 4th Birthday! My youngest is 4?! Wow did that fly by… it’s been 4 wild years of learning to be a boy momma. A whole different experience from my girls that isΒ full of dirt, wrestling, cars and noise! One I would also not trade for anything in the entire world, because it has brought so much joy, love and excitement! He is so sweet with a healthy dose of rough and tumble. His favorite book right now is Where the Wild Things Are. So much so that I read it to him about 10 times a week or more! He pretends to be Max and so I just knew it would make the perfect birthday party theme. We had his party on Friday night since his birthday is on a Sunday.

Lime + Mint Sugar Foot Scrub

I hope you all enjoyed your Mother’s Day weekend celebrating the mothers in your life. It is such a precious day to me as I hold my children that doctors told me I could never have. If you don’t know my infertility story you can read it here. I celebrated my mother, my grandmother, mother-in-law, friends who are mothers and a few Godly women who love on me as if I were their daughter. I spent the day thanking God for the mothers in my life in many forms and especially thanking Him for my sweet children that He gave me against all odds.
