So this post is half Friday Favorites and half DIY! I love the idea of having a cute chalkboard sign to decorate with each changing season. I don’t love the prices of said cute chalkboard signs. So I went through some old frames I’m not using and decided to make my own for free!
Here is the before of the frame:

I didn’t want a black frame on the black chalkboard so I went with white washed look by lightly brushing on white acrylic paint. I like a shabby chic look, but you could spray paint or paint until fully covered for a cleaner look. Here is the frame after:

Then I painted the glass with chalkboard paint. If you don’t have any chalkboard paint you can check out my tutorial for that here: Chalkboard Paint Tutorial.

Next I hung it on the wall in our dining room:
Finally I wrote on it with Chalk Markers by Chalk Ola. I love their chalk markers! They write super smooth and easy. I like the clean look of these as opposed to using a stick of chalk and getting a rough look. They are my Friday Favorite product this week 🙂 I have the set of 10 party colors.

I love the way it turned out! I also love that it cost me nothing but time. Repurposing old items is one of my favorite things to do. Thanks for stopping by friends 🙂
