I am an artist, painting is my favorite thing to do on my own time. I am not amazing but decent and am passionate about my work. I do live worship art for big audiences, I do murals for walls, I do small pieces for fun or to sell, I paint for hire and paint for fun. I am also an art teacher, I teach a class of 20 elementary age homeschool kids one day a week. I do private lessons and run art camps in the summer. I have never shared my art on my blog before, but today I am. As usual with all of my art, there is a story to be told with this recent piece.
One of my close friends, Kayla, brought me this framed picture of a lighthouse:
Then she asked that I paint it for her so she could give it to her Grandmother. Evidently this is a lighthouse off of the Isle of Man called Chicken Rock Lighthouse. Kayla’s Great-Great-Grandmother played at this lighthouse as a child before she moved to Canada from Ireland. Kayla’s Grandmother’s mother used to have a painting of this lighthouse and it got lost. So as a Christmas gift Kayla wanted to have it painted again for her Grandmother. I love the picture, the story behind it and my friend so of course I said yes. Here is my painting:
Here are some pictures of the original picture and my painting together:
My first lighthouse and it probably could be better, but I like the finished product. Well, I’ve heard from Kayla that her grandmother loved it. That’s what really matters right? Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

I disagree with one thing you said: ” I am not amazing but decent and am passionate about my work.” If you are decent and passionate, then yes, you ARE amazing. What makes the creatures of this work amazing are their abilities to have passion and decency. Also, it’s less about the final product as it is about the intention, and the purpose, of your work. And it is easy to see that your intention, your purpose, is from a place of love and caring. If only more of the world could make art in this way, then we could have a better place to live.
Keep it up!
Have a blessed and cherished day!
With peace, kindness, and truth,
Danny
