Jungle Themed Baby Shower Cake

Today my cousin and his wife are having a baby shower for their soon to be born baby boy Micah. My Aunt asked me to make the cake and cupcakes for it, and the shower is a jungle theme 🙂

When icing the cupcakes I wanted a leafy looking icing so I could settle a fondant jungle animal on top. To achieve the leaf look I wanted I tinted my icing with bright green gel coloring, and then streaked the inside of my piping bag with a dark green gel coloring. Below are some pictures of this.

Next I used a cross like tip that when I begin the leaf I pushed the icing out with more force than at the end of the leaf to let a pointed tip fall over the sides.

Next I wanted to show you my method for fondant polka dots. I use an icing tip and it makes simple consistent polka dots if you don’t have a tiny round cookie cutter.

Here is my cake. First the bottom layer and then the top layer added.

I love how cute it turned out. It took around 12-13 hrs total. Thanks for stopping by!
